Measurement of drugs and their metabolites in biological fluids is the foundation of both therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) and toxicology. Each discipline depends on accurate identification and quantification if the measurements are to be useful. Immunosuppressant testing, Vitamin D and testosterone are a few of the most common tests conducted.
Vitamin D testing is prevalent as well, and for good reason. According to the National Center for Health Statistics, as many as 36% of Americans are low in vitamin D levels, with 40% of infants and toddlers testing below the optimal blood threshold level.
